About me
I’m Marie, McTimoney Chiropractor in Islington, based in Highbury N5.
I’m Marie Ayres. I work with people who are living with persistent or recurring pain, helping them understand what’s going on and find ways forward that work for them.
I’ve lived with chronic pelvic pain myself for many years. I have endometriosis, and for a long time pain affected almost every part of my life. I know how much it can influence what you do, what you avoid, and how you feel about your body.
I also know how difficult it can be to find a way forward when you’ve been trying to solve the problem for a long time. That experience has influenced how I work. I don’t see my role as fixing you or telling you what you should do. I’m there to help you understand what’s happening, explore your options and work out what feels useful for you.
I originally trained as a McTimoney chiropractor. Hands-on treatment was where I started, but over time I became increasingly interested in pain, movement and rehabilitation, and in helping people develop their own understanding and confidence. My work now brings together gentle manual therapy, pain education, movement and coaching, depending on what is useful for the person in front of me.

Education & Skills
I earned a BSc (Hons) in Chiropractic in 2008. Since then, my training and continuing professional development have broadened into pain science, movement and rehabilitation.
I’ve trained in Graded Motor Imagery and Bodily Relearning with the Neuro Orthopaedic Institute (NOI), and also trained in the Emmett Technique, somatic movement and Empowered Relief.
I’m committed to continuing to learn and develop my practice, particularly in the areas of pain, movement and rehabilitation. I’m also a member of Le Pub Scientifique, a community for clinicians and researchers interested in pain and rehabilitation.
Not sure what you need?
That's fine. You don't have to work that out before you book. We can talk about what's going on and decide together what might be useful.
